Zondervan to Publish First-Time Book from a Christian Evangelist and Chinese Diplomat
Luis Palau and Zhao Qizheng invite others into their conversations

More information about Friendly Dialogue between an Atheist and a Christi Grand Rapids, Mich., Nov. 13, 2007 – Influential American evangelist and Christian leader Luis Palau and renowned Chinese diplomat Zhao Qizheng invite others into their conversations on philosophy, history, religion, and politics, as well as Chinese and western culture in A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian (Feb 2008).

This first-ever book between a Chinese diplomat and a Christian evangelist was originally published in China as Riverside Talks: A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian (New World Press, August 2006), in both Chinese and English. Zondervan and Editorial Vida are making this important work available to the rest of the world with a simultaneous release of the English and Spanish versions of A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian.

"We believe this book will serve readers as a fascinating look into China and its evolving role in the global community. But it will also show how two leaders with differing convictions can develop a friendship and healthy, civil dialogue about things that matter," says Scott Bolinder, executive vice president and publisher.

This is a dialogue between an atheist and a theist; a scientist and a Christian evangelist; between one from the East and one from the West. A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian offers readers unique insights into the current spiritual and cultural realities in China, displacing many stereotypes and misinformation. It also demonstrates how people with different perspectives and beliefs can have mutually beneficial conversations if both go into them with open minds and a desire to communicate.

A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christianis a positive approach to interreligious and intercultural dialogue. Words as well as dozens of full-color photographs promote a greater appreciation of the culture of China and how people there are responding to the Christian faith.
