We’re sorry, but live support is no longer available for any part of this product. Because it was developed for platforms that are no longer the standard, we can only provide answers to the most frequently asked questions. Please contact Zondervan ChurchSource at 800-727-3480 or thinkzcs@zondervan.com to purchase an upgrade to Art Source 1.0.

Art Source 1.0 Compatibility: This software is compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT and ME. It is also compatible with OS 7.1 or higher (Classic mode only in OS X).

    Q. How can I tell if my computer meets the system requirements listed on this software?

    A. PC: There are several things you can tell by right-clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop and choosing Properties. The resulting screen will show you what kind of computer you have, which version of Windows you are running, and how much RAM you have installed.

If you double-click on My Computer and then right-click on the drive you would like to install the software on, and finally choose Properties. The resulting screen will tell you if you have enough hard drive space available.

Mac: There are several things you can tell by going to the Apple menu and choose About this Computer. On the resulting screen, you will see the OS that you are running as well as how much memory you have installed. Other information is also available.

    Q. How do I start the program?

    A. From the Start menu, choose Programs then Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader 2.1. This will bring up a screen asking you what kind of file to open. In the lower right, select your CD–ROM drive from the drop down list. In the upper left, it will ask you to choose the resolution you want. The file named Lowres.pdf is low resolution (worse quality images but less wait). The file named Artsrc.pdf is high resolution (better quality images but a longer wait). Select one and click OK. The catalog will open for you.

    Q. Why can’t I change these pictures at all?

    A. They are read-only files. They are not meant to be changed.

    Q. How do I insert an image into my word processor or publishing program?

    A. You can do this in a couple of different ways. You can perform a highlight, copy and paste function, or you can go into your word processor or publishing program, open the insert menu, navigate to the CD–ROM drive and choose the image that you want.

    Q. How do I put words next to a picture that I have copied and pasted?

    A. You will need to put a text box next to it and type in there.

    Q. How do I print out the catalog?

    A. Click on Lowres.pdf. Open the File menu and select Print. Choose to print the range of pages 2 through 24.

    Q. How do I register this software?

    A. You can register your software right here online.

NIV Compatibility: This software is compatible with Windows 3.1 and 95. The software is compatible with Windows 98, but the installer is not. See manual install instructions below.

    Q. I have installed this software on my previous system (Windows 95) and it worked great. I’ve since upgraded my system to Windows 98 and am now having problems installing the software. When I open the setup it gives the following error message: “ISINST30 caused a general protection fault.” What is wrong?

    A. The installer that comes with that program is not compatible with Windows 98. You need to manually install it. To do so:

    Q. When I open the program, no text shows up except for Verse Notes, or I get messages saying that Zondervan Reference Software can’t find the text. Why don't I have text?

    A. If you are receiving error messages, answer “yes” to all of the messages. While in the program open the File menu; choose Preferences and Set Text Search Path. Type in the letter of the drive to which you installed the program. For example, if you installed it on your C drive, you would type C:\. From the File menu, choose Exit. On the next screen, select No, you do not want to save the session. When you restart the program open the File menu and select open text; you should have all of the text modules.

    Q. After I search, how do I clear the results to return to what I was doing before I searched?

    A. Open the Index menu and choose Clear.

    Q. Why does the program hang up when I try to paste more than (about) a dozen pages of text?

    A. This is a protective measure to prevent people from breaking copyright law by copying the whole text.

    Q. I also have Microsoft Word 97 SR-1 (or Word 2000). You provide a template, Bsource.dot for Microsoft Word that is supposed to provide an easy means of incorporating scriptures into a Word document. The problem I am having is that the macros contained in Bsource.dot are apparently for an older version of Microsoft Word. Do you have an updated template?

    A. We have not produced Bible Source for a few years. The template that comes with it (Bsource.dot) will not work with Word 97 or 2000. The template that will work with Word 97 and 2000 will not work with the old Bible Source software.

    Q. The program is asking me for a serial number. Where do I find that number?

    A. Use today’s date.

    Q. Is there a way to get chapter headings in the electronic version of the NIV like there are in the print Bible?

    A. Not at the current time. We may offer this feature in future editions.

    Q. How can I make a shortcut on my desktop to the program?

    A. Double-click My Computer (on your desktop), your C drive, NIVBIBLE. Then right-click on nivbible.exe and choose Create Shortcut. Drag this shortcut out to your desktop.
