    The Ideas Library v. 1

This software is given email and online support. There is an upgrade available through Zondervan ChurchSource, 800-727-3480 or thinkzcs@zondervan.com.

Compatibility: This software is compatible with Windows® 95, 98, 2000, ME and Windows NT®. It is also compatible with Macintosh OS 7.6.1 or higher (Classic only in OS X).

    Q. How can I tell if my computer meets the system requirements listed on this software?

    A. PC: There are several things you can tell by right clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop and choosing Properties. The resulting screen will show you what kind of computer you have, which version of Windows you are running, and how much RAM you have installed.

If you double-click on My Computer and then right-click on the drive you would like to install the software on and finally choose Properties, the resulting screen will tell you if you have enough hard drive space available.

Mac: There are several things you can tell by going to the Apple menu and choose About this Computer. On the resulting screen, you will see the OS that you are running as well as how much memory you have installed. Other information is also available.

    Q. Why can’t I see the whole screen? It is cut off on all edges.

    A. Your screen resolution must be set to at least 800 X 600 pixels for you to view the whole screen. To change this setting, open the Start menu (bottom left corner of your screen), choose Settings and then Control Panel from the submenus. In the Control Panel window, double-click Display. Open the Settings Tab and change the Desktop Area setting to at least 800 X 600 pixels.

    Q. Why does nothing happen when I click on a Blue "go to" link?

    A. You must install the Acrobat Reader included on our CD. Before you do this, remove any other versions of Acrobat Reader that you have on your computer. Then install version 4.0. To do this:

    1. Insert your CD–ROM. Click No when it asks if you want to start the Ideas Library now.
    2. From the Start menu (bottom left corner of your screen), choose the Programs submenu, then Windows Explorer.
    3. Double-click your CD–ROM drive on the left side of the window (denoted by a picture of a little CD).
    4. On the right side of the window, double-click the folder called Acrobat Installers.
    5. Double-click Reader 4.0 Installer.exe
    6. This will install the Acrobat Reader included with the program.
    7. Try a selection with a Blue link again.

    Q. When I click on a Blue link, I get an error that says the program can’t find the Acrobat Reader Active X Control. What is wrong?

    Q. When I open some lessons, they are so small I can’t read them. If I make them bigger, I have to scroll all over to read them. Is this normal?

    A. Yes, the lesson view was designed to give you a quick view to decide if you wanted to print them or not. This should be changed in the next release.

    Q. When I print some things I only get the bold headings clearly. The text is in a very strange font. Why won't it print normally?

    A. This is a bug in the first version of the software. Please notify us so we can send you the updated version.

    Q. I get an error message that reads “The start.exe file is linked to missing export oleaut32.dll; 185. Error starting program.” What does this mean?

    A. You need to upgrade to a later version of Windows 95 or 98. Please contact Microsoft for help with this.

    Q. I get an error that says, “The program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Details: Ideas Library has caused general protection fault an krnl386.exe.” What does this mean?

    A. You need to upgrade to later version of Windows 95 or 98. Please contact Microsoft for help with this.

    Q. How do I install this on my hard drive?

    A. Read the CD and copy all of its contents onto your hard drive. To do this:

    1. Create a new folder on your hard drive. Double-click My Computer (on your desktop). Double-click your C drive. Open the File menu (top of the window) and choose New, then Folder from the submenus that follow. Name the folder a name that makes sense to you.
    2. Put the CD–ROM in your drive (no, you do not want to go to the library if it asks).
    3. Double-click My Computer (on your desktop).
    4. Right click on your CD–ROM drive and choose Explore from the menu that pops up.
    5. Open the Edit menu (from the top of the window) and choose Select all.
    6. If a pop-up window says there are hidden files, follow the instructions it gives you to show the files. Then select all again.
    7. Open the Edit menu again and select copy.
    8. Browse to the new folder that you created and open it.
    9. Open the Edit menu again and choose Paste.
    10. You may create a shortcut to your desktop from the Ideas Library.exe file if you desire (by right clicking on the file, choosing Create Shortcut from the menu that pops up, and dragging the resultant shortcut to the desktop).

    Q. I have a full version of Adobe Acrobat 4.0 on my computer. Why won't it work with your software?

    A. This program will only work with Reader 4.0 or above, so make sure you have the free Reader installed on your computer along with the full version of Acrobat.

    Q. How do I register this software?

    A. You can register your software right here online.
